Real Estate Licensing

• Pre-licensing Education
  State regulators (most often a Real Estate Commission or Department of Licensing) usually require a specified number of hours in Real Estate Principles before you can take your licensing exam. The hours must include specific curriculum topics and are usually offered through schools approved by the state regulator.

• Prelicensing Education Final Exam
  Most states require some form of final exam following the Pre-licensing education and specify a pass-rate you must achieve to become eligible for the state licensing examination. Sometimes the final exam can be taken on the computer immediately following your course. Some states require the final exam be taken with a proctor (usually a librarian or school official).

• Licensing Examination
  After passing your Pre-licensing course and final exam, you are eligible to take the state licensing examination. These examinations are usually administered by a 3rd party testing administrator such as PSI or Promissor.
